The world’s best-selling Scotch whiskey has launched a new collection of limited-editions which pay tribute to the almost two-centuries-old brand. With these five brand new releases, Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender Jim Beveridge celebrates the brand’s legacy of international travel, royal patronage and artistic innovation.

The Johnnie Walker Black Label Limited Edition

The Johnnie Walker Black Label Limited Edition and the Johnnie Walker Red Label Limited Edition reflect the brand’s passion for art. These limited-edition sets see Beveridge collaborate with world-renowned Polish illustrator and designer Pawel Nolbert, whose work includes designs for Google, Apple, Adobe, Nike, Sony, Polaroid, Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft. Together, they’ve brought the boldness and rich complexity of Red and Black Label out through two unique packaging designs.

Another of this season’s limited editions, the Johnnie Walker Blender’s Batch Red Rye Finish introduces a new series of experiments that Johnnie Walker recently released to explore a range of new blends. A team of blenders approached 203 different whiskey samples in 50 different ways in pursuit of the perfect balance of flavor. The result is a beautiful mix between Johnnie Walker’s signature smoky flavor and the sweet, vanilla notes of American rye whiskey.

For the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve Limited Edition, the brand has taken inspiration from the polar explorers who brave extreme temperatures and weather conditions to reach the ends of the planet. The result is a gloriously smooth iteration of Johnnie Walker Gold Label designed to be served over ice.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label The Karman Line 2016

Its final limited-edition blend for 2016, the Johnnie Walker Blue Label The Karman Line 2016, is infused with a rare, unique depth of flavor inspired by the Karman Line—the boundary between the earth’s atmosphere and outer space where atmospheric gases scatter the blue wavelengths of visible light more than other wavelengths, giving the earth’s visible edge a blue halo.

A LONG AND RICH HERITAGE

Johnnie Walker Thailand Billboard 1948

Johnnie Walker traces its history back to 1820, when budding entrepreneur Johnnie Walker started crafting and selling his blended whiskies in Scotland. His whiskey blends were carefully balanced with characteristically big bold flavor profiles.  Soon after, the unique products struck the public as standouts in a market awash with raw uneven alcohol.

In 1920, exactly a century after Walker began his family venture, his whiskies were being sold in more than 120 countries worldwide—an achievement summed up in the strap line of their 1920 travel guide, Around the World, which read: “We sailed wherever ships could sail.”

In 1934, Britain’s King George V granted the company a Royal Warrant, an honor that has been bestowed by subsequent British Monarchs. For the first time in 1956, Johnnie Walker Red Label case sales alone reached over 1 million.

Johnnie Walker’s success in Thailand dates back 10 years earlier, when it arrived in the Kingdom in 1924. In 2012, Thailand was ranked third among the 180 markets for Johnnie Walker whiskey sales for the third consecutive year thanks to the country’s growing demand from ever expanding middle-class customers. The Thais’ consumption of Johnnie Walker is high, only trailing behind only the United States and Brazil.
