Korean, drip coffee and molten-cheese sandwiches—can Ari get any cooler?

Joha

Just around the corner from our favorite seafood truck, Summer Street, is Ari's newest Korean restaurant, courtesy of former flight attendant and chef Kay Cho. He and his younger brother, Junhee Cho, began their cooking careers back in Sydney and have now set up shop permanently in Bangkok. Inside the small six-table venue they have you barbecuing your own beef on hot stones brought all the way from Busan (B350). There's also bulgogi (B280), kimchi bap with cheese (B250), dak glabi (stir-fried chicken with cheese, B250) and dolsot bibim bap (six vegetables, beef, egg and rice, B200) each of which are served with kimchi, bean sprouts and Chinese cabbage that the brothers prepare fresh every morning. There's a pretty funky drinks menu, too, which includes hongcho (concentrated vinegar and pommegranate said to reduce headaches, stop hangovers and increase beauty) which can be had with water (B60) or a soju shot (B50), as well as melona ju (soju, mineral water and melon ice cream that you mix yourself)—surprisingly delicious. With red bean bingsu and yogurt soju on the way, we know where we'll be eating in Ari for the next few months.

Common Room x Ari

Ari's chic new cafe Common Room doubles as a delivery service bringing ice-cream, baked goods and coffee to your door. The shop itself is a pretty minimal affair, putting a clear focus on quality coffee. Beans come courtesy of top local roasters like Ceresia and Brave, with blends as well as single origins from Kenya and Colombia available as latte or flat white (B80), French press (B120) or hot and cold drip (B150). Each morning staff bake fresh a number of treats including croissants (B30), roasted pork pies (B45) and classic brownies (B75). There's also a set menu for B145 which includes your choice of drink and Thai dishes like moo gratiem (fried pork with garlic) and gang kiew waan (green curry). For dessert they roll out mango and lychee sorbet (B65) and waffles (B120), while the must-try affogato (B105) features specially made ice cream. Delivery prices are B20-B30 covring the Phaythai area from BTS Sanam Pao to Saphan Kwai.

Bush by Paper Butter

Bush by Paper Butter

From the owners of Paper Butter burgers at Ari backpacker hostel The Yard, comes this new grab-and-go salad and sandwich joint located right by Ari BTS. The menu includes a range of salads (B69-79) served with homemade dressings as well as some hefty sandwiches like the Omega (gouda cheese, tomato, rocket and tuna, B120) and, our personal favourite, the Bollo-Bollo (mozarella cheese, rocket, bolognese sauce and either beef or pork, B130). For those with a sweet tooth there's the S'more dessert sandwich made with 74-percent dark chocolate, marshmallow and Nutella (B70). Die-hard Paper Butter burger fans can also order their favurite burgers and have them delivered right here in no more than 20 minutes.
