Meet the Bangkok dispensary giving a new meaning to ‘farm to table’
This isn’t Old MacDonald’s average far
While the term “farm to table” is thrown around a lot, especially when talking about buzzy high-end restaurants, one Bangkok establishment is reimagining it in a whole new context: cannabis.
At Cannabangka, the majority of products come straight from their own newly-established pesticide-free farm right in the city. According to them, the 400-square-meter indoor growing area is furnished with the latest technology and equipment to ensure a continuous supply of fresh and high-quality products, allowing the farm to simultaneously grow up to 500 plants. After choosing the strains from various certified foreign seed banks, the seeds are then carefully grown in a temperature-controlled room with an automatic fertigation and climate control system. Now obviously, this sets Cannabangka apart from the majority of the other dispensaries currently operating in Bangkok, and their emphasis on making sure they can trace their homegrown products from start to finish means that customers can be certain these guys know what they’re doing.
Now, Cannabangka also carries a few products that aren’t straight from their farm, but rest assured, those are also put through a similarly meticulous curation process. By testing everything from each product’s smell and moisture contents to their growing techniques, the dispensary makes sure that their out-of-house products, so to speak, are up to the same standards as their in-house ones.
The brand has two different dispensaries around Bangkok — at Ramkhamhaeng and Sathorn, to be precise — so customers can trek over to their nearest venue. Free private parking along with a soon-to-be-opened outdoor rooftop smoking space is also available at the Ramkhamhaeng branch. And of course, each venue is staffed with “budtenders,” who will assist you with everything from rolling to explaining the variations between the products.
As you can imagine, Cannabangka has an extensive menu, some highlights including HulkBerry, a sativa-dominant strain that has an herbal and peppery flavor with hints of citrus. A similar flavor profile can also be found in Amnesia Haze, a sativa strain that has a slightly more distinct lemon-y aroma. Another indica-dominant strain, Sherbet Queen has a more sweet and fruity flavor, while customers who want something more earthy and minty can ask about Green Gelato. And despite the premium-grade quality, all of the products are at affordable prices, especially compared with other options on the Bangkok market. Overall, Cannabangka sells approximately 40 different genetics, also making their menu one of the largest (if not the largest) in town.
For true cannabis enthusiasts, the company also has plans to host both English and Thai-language informational courses and workshops in the future.
Cannabangka is located at Ram 26/2, and Sathorn 8. They can also be reached via their Instagram (officialcannabangka), Facebook (CANNABANGKA), or by email at [email protected] and by phone at 02 114 3526.
