The long-mooted development flanking Chatuchak Market is still going ahead, though under different leadership.

Just last year, hotel and property development company Dusit International together with Dhanasansombut Development Co. announced plans to build Mixt Chatuchak, a mixed-use development comprising of a 250-room hotel and luxury shopping mall right alongside the iconic weekend market.

However, the project has since been taken over by another developer, Siam Piriya Development Co., who have changed the design and logo completely, as well as dropped the hotel side of the development.

Located just a short walk from BTS Mo Chit and MRT Chatuchak Park, the five-story building (which runs a length of 350 meters) will be filled with retail shops and huge activity spaces aiming to draw in the 400,000 shoppers that visit Chatuchak Market every weekend.

Mixt Chatuchak's spokespeople say construction is well under way and estimated for completion in May 2019, with spaces already available for rent.

The idea of plopping a mall beside Chatuchak has long fascinated developers. Before Mixt, there was Town Square shopping mall, but construction was never finished.
