From comedy nights to beachside parties and a little bit of punk history, there's plenty of events to keep you out and about this weekend.

Illumi Nation 

Asia's first ever glow-in-the-dark paint party promises seaside revelry at Siloso Beach with DJs like Bingo Players, Dada Life and Martin Solveig spinning the decks. You can also take part in events like body art painting and graffiti art.

Clarke Quay Presents: Oktoberfest 2014

Clarke Quay’s Oktoberfest celebrations get underway with German-themed food and Erdinger Beer pop-up kiosks dishing out crispy pork knuckles, German gourmet sausages and, of course, lots of beer.

FORWARD: Darren Emerson

One of the most influential figures in dance music, DJ Darren Emerson has worked with everyone from Depeche Mode to Jamie Cullum. Expect to hear techno and house hits from his Global Underground compilation when he spins the decks at Kyo.

Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake

Headlining this year's da:ns Festival is English choreographer Matthew Bourne's production of ballet classic Swan Lake, combining dance, mime, theatrical sets and even character comedy.

Kings & Queens

It’s two hours of belly-laughs from comedians from all over the world at the fifth edition of Kings & Queens. This year's lineup includes Jinx Yeo, Ted Alexander, Jon Atherton, Arj Barker and Singapore's most prominent drag queen (the ever-reliable Kumar).

PUNK+ Photo Exhibition by Sheila Rock

This exhibition features 28 photos curated by photographer Sheila Rock in her book on the explosive punk movement in contemporary culture, with images of punk era kings like The Sex Pistols and Generation X. A pop-up store will also be on site selling books, vinyl records and accessories. 

MAAD Sounds!

This arts market by the MAAD collective features original artwork, quirky homemade items and performances by home-grown musicians. This month, expect to hear the sounds of Spacedays, Ellipsis, Monster Cat and The Psalms.
