On Mar 22, a fire spread through the Karen refugee camp of Ban Mae Surin in Mae Hong Son. 400 houses were destroyed along with a clinic, a Baptist church, two schools and two food supply storerooms. 37 people died, over a 100 were injured and 2,700 have been left homeless. News reports indicate that the government, UNHCR and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) are on the ground providing assistance. To donate to the government, call 05-361-4313 or 08-3082-3726. The UNHCR only does face-to-face fundraising, so look out for them on the street or call 02-665-2523 for their fundraising schedule. Finally, the IRC takes online donations and accepts credit cards, making it our top pick—visit www.rescue.org/donate/thailand-fire
