Some bits of the plan are more exciting than others.

Our go-to spot for cheap Thai, fancy vegetarian and decadent ice creamHolland Village is getting a makeover and a 2.3 hectare extension. Prepare for more air-conditioned spaces, more faux-indie businesses and probably lots of construction in the coming months.

By next March, there will be a brand new medical and shopping center called part Raffles Holland V. Also on the cards is the demolition of the so-called Windmall Building, or Holland Road Shopping Mall, which will be replaced by something new and snazzy no doubt.

A bit more hazy (heh!) for the moment is the 2.3 hectare extension planned by the URA behind the shophouses in the area. The extension will be divided into two zones: one for private residents and the second zone is for commercial uses and serviced apartments. No word on dates yet, though.

In the meantime, head here for a fun guide to eating and drinking in the neighborhood.
