A few months away from the gubernatorial reelection, Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra is rolling up his sleeves. He announced platform screen doors at the BTS’s nine busiest stations. The first station to get four sets of doors will be BTS Siam, within 10 months, the gov promises. After trials at Siam are over, the system will be expanded to Asok, On Nut, Phaya Thai, Victory Monument, Sala Daeng, Chit Lom, Phrom Phong and Chong Nonsi. The entire project should cost B600 million and take 12 months, to install a total of 20 more sets of doors. The gov says we have the 30-year BTS lease extension to thank for these improvements. Thank you gov, nearly falling onto the tracks was really high on our list of gripes about the BTS.
