The Swedish illusionist has had a pretty illustrious career so far, having sold out arenas around the world and been crowned “Illusionist of the Decade" at the Magic World Cup in Beijing. Returning to Singapore after the success of “Incanto”, Labero spares a few minutes to chat about his craziest feat, die-hard fans and how he keeps audiences coming back for more.

What challenges did you encounter when you first started performing?

I had initially complicated every aspect of magic, wanting to do everything. I learned over time to find what works best for me, developing my form and technique. I learned to keep it simple, and master that.

How do you connect with audiences and keep them engaged?

It is important for me to get them involved with the show. I get them involved by asking them their names as the show progresses and it incorporates an element of interaction and intimacy with the audience—each one is unique.

Tell us some of the strangest fan encounters you’ve had.

I wouldn't call them strange, as I am grateful for the appreciation. For example I have a very nice and likeable Swedish fan who has come to watch my shows at least 70 times!

What’s the most difficult feat you’ve accomplished so far?

It was definitely the feat I did when performing in Tunisia, where I caught a speeding bullet at close proximity with my hands.

So, is it really magic or is it a trick of the eye?

Are you ready to believe?
