1. Summer Street

The food truck craze is sweeping the city, and Ari is no exception. Seated a few steps from the start of Ari Soi 2, Summer Street is a photogenic, white truck serving up fresh grilled seafood like giant freshwater prawn (B120) and squid (B120). Try its seafood platters priced from B399-999 along with Singha (B90) or Hoegaarden (B180) by the bottle.

Try its list of Vietnamese classics like banh canh (thick Vietnamese noodle soup, B80), the naem nueng set (Vietnamese meatballs served with rice paper, fresh salad and a sweet and sour dip, B180) or the Vietnamese sausage salad with Bin Bin Long’s signature star-fruit dressing (B150).

3. Jim’s Burgers and Beers

The brainchild of three high-school buddies, Jim’s Burgers and Beers looms as a proper new hangout spot, putting the focus on booze and burgers. Set in a small shophouse decorated in the requisite modern industrial style with plenty of exposed bricks and steel, the solid range of burgers are listed on a board behind the counter. Get straight to business with the signature Jim’s honey beef burger (B250), in which the patty is made with fresh mince and flavored with milk, cheese and honey. On the side, order some Mr. Maew fried chicken (B140), onion rings (B130) or Chicago French fries (B110). Wash it all down with a fine selection of draught German beers, such as Weihenstephan Hefeweissbier and Weihenstephan Vitus, starting at B150 and B160 respectively.

4. Vick’s

Not only is Ari a café, bar and restaurant hub, but it’s now becoming a home to fashion as well. Under the local high-fashion label Vickteerut, Vick’s offers a younger fashion line of casual-yet-stylish items for women. The first collection, “Weekend is Everyday,” is in-store now on Ari Soi 2.

Taking over the old spot of British-garden-inspired restaurant Aree Alley, Mad Bar is the latest drinking joint in Ari. The garden is strewn with bean bags and wooden garden benches for kicking back while inside is all about live bands and DJs. You can expect classic cocktails with twists like the Mad Jamaican Mojito (B250) and Applitini (B250), plus imported beers from Brewdog. 2/1 Ari Samphan Soi

We recommend fried chicken (B120), which comes with three dipping sauces (original, garlic and spicy) and goes well with Kimchi Hour’s signature soju drinks (from B99).
