Since Jul 15, the long white wall stretching for about 50 meters of Sukhumvit Soi 32, at the corner where the old Rex Hotel used to sit, is the canvas for a new, open-air exhibition: 'CHANGE IS...' Presented by #BEATNIQ from SC ASSET. Five of Thailand's top artists are exhibiting their talents on these tattered walls under the concept 'CHANGE IS...', as part of SC ASSET's aim to break away from conventional construction hoardings and advertising billboards, and instead use the space as a platform for conceptual art.

The five artists who are contributing their work to the project are:

1. Chatchawarn "Chut" Janthachotibuth

The young photographer chose to capture behind-the-scenes images from the Rex Hotel. His series of 10 images, both of the building and its staff, have been arranged on the wall like a mosaic overlapping with actual floor tiles that represent the memories of the Rex Hotel's staff.

Chut's exhibition ran from Jul 15-27 and is now closed.

2. Pongsuang Kunprasob aka Note Dudesweet

For his series titled GUARD, the founder of party planner and event collective Dudesweet took on the role of a security guard stationed at the Sukhumvit Soi 32 space. From Aug 1-3, he recorded the events and changes that took place in front of the wall, turning them into black and white line drawings that will form his exhibition.

On display from Aug 28-Sep 9

3. Terawat “O” Teankaprasith

One of Thailand's most famous illustrators and graphic designers will transform his work into animations in order to tell the story  of the project from its beginning up until its final transformation by SC ASSET. The audience, he says, will slowly be able to see the transition as they drive along the street, as though passing through time. O will be illustrating live at the space from Aug 10-14.

On display from Aug 10-20

4. Suthipa “Toey” Kamyam

The young pencil illustrator, whose abstract technique relies on the layering of different line patterns, has taken inspiration from the Bangkok cityscape and how it fights to get along with the natural environment.

On display from Aug 21-31

5. Nu “Toh” Nimsomboon

The closing event by Slowmotion design studio will finalize the idea of "CHANGE" by connecting all the 'CHANGE IS...' exhibitions. The studio's design director, Nu “Toh” Nimsomboon, and his team have chosen to present the work through natural patterns on a marble surface that overlaps itself over time. The intention is to portray the origin of materials before their transformation into a new project by SC ASSET.

On display from Sep 1-15

In addition to these art exhibitions, the highlihght of the event is a giant 5,000% BE@RBRICK, the biggest in the world at 3.5-meters tall. This giant BE@RBRICK has been designed by celebrated artist Pok Kobkongsanti as a series of contour lines illustrating the land's characteristics. Every piece of land selected by SC ASSET to be turned into homes or condos must follow the contours of the land to find its best location.

'CHANGE IS…' Presented by #BEATNIQ from SC ASSET runs now through Sep 15. Share your images of the event online via Facebook and Instagram with the hashtags #BEATNIQ, #SCASSET and #CHANGEis.
