Title: “Lover to Lover”
Artist: My Life as Ali Thomas
Label: Tigger Twins

One sad truth about Bangkok’s plethora of bedroom recording acts is that so many seem to disappear after a couple of singles. Thankfully that’s not the case with My Life as Ali Thomas, the project of Kanyapak Wuttara, who looks primed to make the leap into the indie big time. She’s signed up with one of Bangkok’s newest record labels, Tigger Twins (Blue Shade, Synth), and is joined here by a full band. The lo-fi sound has been cleaned up, but this track is no less charming: a breezy acoustic number with Kanyapak’s powerful voice pushed to the forefront. We’re predicting big things.

Catch them live at: Cat Expo this Nov 1. Then at Jam on Nov 7 for an acoustic set.

Title: “Venue”
Artist: Space 360 Feat. Nacca S Natsuka
Label: Yaak Records

Sumate Kittanasopa, aka Yaak Lab, is unstoppable. After refreshing his Box Records with exciting acts DCNXTR and Cut the Crab, he’s now back presenting a new single on another of his imprints, Yaak Records. “Venue” is a collaboration between Space 360, Benz Photongnoppakun (the ambient sound manipulator who’s behind many of the good things going on in Bangkok’s experimental and electronic scene), and Japanese pianist Nacca S Natsuka. This super slowpaced track is enlivened by Nacca’s pretty vocals and the type of futuristic synth noodling we’ve come to love about the Box Records stable.

Catch them live at: Delicate Decibel 2014 this Oct 30 at Soy Sauce Factory.

Title: “Give Up on Love”
Artist: The Whitest Crow
Label: Rat Records

Rat Records’ The Whitest Crow has been treating us to their country-inspired psychedelic rock for a year or so now. With their third single the band continue to go from strength to strength. “Give Up on Love” is full of swagger, a groove-laden blues stomper with a hook that packs proper sing-along potential. We’re also loving the highly-stylized film clip, which takes a look at Pattaya’s less-than-salubrious nightlife with an artful eye.

Catch them live at: Last week the band played the massive Melody of Life concert, but fear not, they’ll also be at Nov 1-2’s Cat Expo, as well as the Neighborhood gig at Neilson Hays Library on Nov 29.

Title: “28”
Artist: Young Man & The Sea
Label: Tigger Twins

This folk duo is another band that’s recently signed to Tigger Twins. Band leader Wiracha Daochai is the writer behind many of Bodyslam’s hits and has also had a religious philosophy book published, called Fon Euy Tam Mai Jung Tok. This first single features a sparse acoustic arrangement over which Wiracha recites poetic lyrics about younger days. It’s very pretty stuff with an almost gospel- like quality.

Catch them live at: Cat Expo on Nov 1.
