At least two major events will take place in June, including a pride parade down Silom Road, the first such event there in 16 years, and a three-day cultural conclave.
Bangkok Naruemit Pride 2022
Rainbow flags will fly high above Silom Road when the Bangkok Naruemit Pride takes over Sunday afternoon.
Organized by LGBTQ+ rights advocates and activists, Bangkok Naruemit Pride will roam through the capital’s unofficial gay capital to celebrate diversity and raise issues such as gay marriage, gender inequality, health care, and more. It’s the first since 2006. A six-day 2017 event was canceled due to the ongoing mourning of the late King Bhumibol.
The parade will kick off at 4pm on Sunday from the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple with activities running until 7pm.
Bangkok Pride: Rainbowtopia
Art, music, talks, movies, and more will come together over three days at a downtown gallery.
Run by LGBTQ+-focused media Spectrum, Rainbowtopia will host works by more than 40 artists celebrating pride, as well as talks on diversity and LGBTQ+ issues. Cinephiles can also expect short and feature-length queer films screening for free. Booths will pop up and welcome signatures from people demanding legal gender recognition.
The event runs June 17-19 at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.
