Another legendary painter gets the star treatment on the silver screen.
Like they did with “Loving Vincent” at the tail end of 2020, River City Bangkok is screening a film revealing the deepest secrets of another movement-defining artist with “I, Claude Monet,” a documentary based entirely on Claude Monet’s personal letters, screening at the gallery on Jan 16 and Jan 30.
This award-winning documentary reveals Monet as the artist, businessman, lover, and man he was, while also shedding light on his turbulent personal life, one scarred by intense despair, depression, and poverty. Unlike the usual narration and talking heads involved in a traditional documentary, Monet actually tells his story, in a way, as the narrative is based on 3,000 surviving letters.
Visually, “I, Claude Monet” features over a hundred of Monet’s paintings filmed in high definition, recording his journey from a prodigiously talented, firebrand teenager to a grand old man, along with other significant encounters in his remarkable life.
Tickets are available via Ticketmelon for B150.
