The Bangkok Art Biennale is making a comeback after its debut back in 2018, this year featuring 82 artists from up to 26 countries, from Oct 29, 2020, to Jan 31, 2021.

Overseen by artistic director Dr. Apinan Poshyananda, the event features “Escape Routes” theme, with artwork reflecting on burning issues like environmental damage, pollution, gender, racism and political differences.

The Biennale will be hosted at nine venues across the city, from renowned art galleries to sanctuary spaces—BAB Box One Bangkok, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), Lhong 1919, Museum Siam, The Parq, The Prelude One Bangkok, Wat Arun, Wat Phra Chetuphon (Wat Pho) and Wat Prayoon. Expect to be immersed in an array of artistic works from prominent international and local creators.

Counter-culture icon Yoko Ono joins a lineup that includes award-winning Serbian performer Marina Abramović; self-taught duo Irwan Ahmett and Tita Salina from Indonesia; experimental, multidisciplinary artist Choy Ka Fai from Singapore; Thai film industry pioneer Pen-ek Ratanaruang and veteran multimedia artist Dansoung Sungvoraveshapan from Nakhon Si Thammarat.
