Tag Heuer Link: Calibre 16 Automatic Chronograph Tachymeter

What is it: A modern mechanical timepiece for men who want to project a restrained yet sporty masculinity.

The details: The Tag Heuer Link Calibre 16 Chronograph is a 43mm dial that features the new cushion and round shape bezel with tachymetre scale. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is coated with double anti-reflective treatment, making it eerily transparent.  What we like about it? The screw-fitting case back with engraved decoration that hinds a balance wheel with Cotes de Geneve motifs--the kind of stuff usually found on much more expensive timepieces.

Charriol: St.Tropez Style

What is it: A luxe, feminine timepiece that screams Riviera elegance.

The details: The French seaside village of St. Tropez has been the summer retreat of the jet-set since the 1960s. Its allure is here capture with a mother of pearl dial tied to a steel braided open clasp strap. Luxurious and refined, the watch’s straps can easily be changed so you can mix and match them with your mood and style.

Gucci: Horsebit

What is it: A simply designed woman’s watch that powerfully evokes the lifestyle of equestrians

The details: The Swiss made Gucci Horsebit comes in a horseshoe shape with a 28mm dial.  Made of white pearl and black pearl index, it is available in dark red and brown-golden dials. The femininity of the steel bangle is offset by simple, honest quality of the steel, while the references to horseback riding are nods to the ultimate aristocratic sport.

Seiko: Sportura

What is it: An adventurous watch that won’t let you down no matter what you throw at it

The details: It’s hard to beat Seiko when it comes to reliability and value for money. The Seiko Sportura comes with a tachymeter and chronograph with timing down to a ⅕ second. The small dial shows 24 hour time (a lifesaver when totally jetlagged or exploring caves) and the Black IP Coating projects an almost military gravitas. The leather perforated watch strap adds a bit of retro, automobile racing charm to this otherwise very high-tech object.

Issey Miyake: W SILAY010

What is it: A fun chronograph with a bold yellow color

The details: Issey Miyake has been producing some of the world’s most beautiful watches for the past few years, starting with the Trapezoid and Twelve by Naoto Fukasawa. This new beauty was created through a collaboration with Japanese car designer, Satoshi Wada. The automobile sports reference are obvious, and yet the design is complete new, while retaining a playful beauty. The yellow dial is efficient, clean and balanced--this is clearly a timepiece, not a fashion accessory.
