Lo and behold – another club bites the dust (or so we’ve been told).

We’re not entirely sure why, but it seems like landlords have been harboring a secret vendetta against popular nightclubs and are now exacting a masterplan for revenge (but don’t take our word for it). Hot on the heels of the Save Zouk saga and its recent lease renewal, nine year old riverside nightclub The Butter Factory has announced plans to shut down by March 2015. Similar to Zouk, the reason given was that an agreement could not be reached with landlord Sino Group regarding rent.

To answer the question on everyone’s mind, co-founders are currently exploring new venue options, with a radically different club concept in the works. And as you might already have guessed, there’s a full-throttle social media campaign to go along with the closure. Titled “Buttered for Life”, clubbers are encouraged to post pictures of their most memorable nights at the club (most of which we suspect involve way too much alcohol).
