Make-up looks in cinemas right now.

The Red and The Blue

X-Men: Days of the Future Past sees everyone’s favorite mutants joining in a battle for survival. Even in full-body blue, Jennifer Lawrence again steals the show as Mystique, even if the combo sounds a bit surreal when talking about cosmetics. Pick out a blue dress with either metallic or pearly textured fabric and match with red lips. Or choose a dark blue eye-shadow and pair it with dark-red lipstick.

Naked and Glowing

Playing Princess Aurora in Maleficent, Elle Fanning is given a sense of innocence through a nude look, complemented by a subtle glow for extra dimension. Choose a glowing product for your skin prep before topping up with loose powder. A pearly-textured eye-shadow is the best bet if you don’t want to look too naked from the matte shadow. Use a pencil liner to sharpen your eye line. As for lips, pick a nude color that’s sheer and a little creamy for a healthy look.

Pastel Hair

Yes, we know that Evan Peters is not a girl but his appearance in the X-Men franchise as Quicksilver confirms that pastel pink and red are the colors to try out this year. Other examples of the trend are Warpaint bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg and the runway look for the Chanel Cruise 2014, which put the focus on pastel tones. Pick from pastel purple, pink or red (green is actually hot, too, but more for dip-dye) then apply either full length or dip-dyed with blonde or dark brown on top.

Modern 50s

Coming soon to cinemas (Jun 12), Maleficent is a fantasy adventure based on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. It stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent and Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora. Jolie’s bold makeup adapts the iconic style of the 1950s—soft brow, sharp, black eye-lines and deep red lips—to present a fierce attitude. Try a medium brown color for your brows, a very black liquid eye liner and match it with a glossy red lipstick.
