Freeflow oysters, foie gras and sashimi? Pffft. Forget all that. Make plans for The Fullerton Hotel's new South African buffet spread launching real soon.

You know about international buffets, Peranakan buffets and seafood buffets—but a South African-themed one prepared by native celebrity chefs?

From Apr 21 to 27, The Fullerton Hotel's Town Restaurant will showcase a special South African Food Festival Dinner Buffet (from $56 per person) in conjunction with the country's 20th Freedom Day on Apr 27.

Guest chefs Vivian Gary Solomon and Lloyd Mark De Stadler from the luxury hotel Taj Cape Town will whip up their best creations to highlight South Africa's colorful culinary heritage, a melting pot of African, British, French, Malay, German, Dutch, Indian and Arab traditions.

Expect dishes such as the bobotie (South Africa's national dish consisting spiced minced meat baked with a custard topping); a hearty seafood stew (also known as "potjie"); bacon and banana kebabs with spicy marinade; and of course, desserts like coconut tartlets and souskluitjies (sweet dumplings typically made with cinnamon).
