PATTAYA
Bold Boutique
Following the success of Siam@Siam and Mode Sathorn in Bangkok,
Siam@Siam Design Hotel Pattaya (038-930-600,
www.siamatpattaya.com) opened late last year on Pattaya Sai 2 Road near Central Festival Pattaya Beach. The hotel features a bold design, vibrant colors and a hint of an underwater world theme. It’s also home to the quirkily designed Car Bar decorated with Jeeps, rickshaws and even a flying car.
Through Apr 30, it’s offering special rates at B3,500 per night for a 30-sq-meter standard room, including breakfast. A khao chae (a seasonal Thai meal with iced rice and various sides) set is also available at B399 for two people.
CHIANG MAI
Northern Baths
Chiang Mai recently welcomed its first Japanese-style onsen at
RarinJinda Wellness Spa (053-247-000,
www.rarinjinda.com), not far from the city center. Each of the spa’s three pools offers different benefits: the hot spring pool features concentrate from Japan’s renowned Gero hot springs and is designed to help you de-stress by relaxing muscles and improving blood circulation. The soda carbonated pool also helps with blood circulation while cleansing and promoting healthy skin. Finally, the cold pool is designed to tighten your pores and refresh your skin.
Through Apr 30, entry is B1,500 (normal rate B3,000), which includes the use of the three pools, rainforest steam sauna and up to three hours at the spa lounge, which serves herbal tea and snacks like sticky rice and mango.
