Silkair announces new flights to Kalibo and Mandalay among other plans for 2014
Regional airline Silkair has announced plans for the coming year, including new flight routes to Kalibo in the Philippines and Mandalay in Myanmar.
In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Silkair has announced plans to make this year one to remember, with new flight routes and more aircraft, as well as celebratory events.
The airline will introduce flights to Kalibo in the Philippines from May 27 and flights to Mandalay in Myanmar from June 10. With the addition of eight new aircraft over the coming year, Silkair is also looking into new destinations to fly to.
Early next month a new Boeing will be delivered all the way from Seattle, so to celebrate, the public will have to opportunity to take part in a 25-hour flight simulation event to replicate the Boeing's delivery route from Seattle to Singapore, via Honolulu, Majuro and Guam. If you've always wanted to know what it's like to fly a plane, head over to Flight Experience Flight Simulator between 10am on February 7 and 11am on February 8 to join in on the event.
Recently the airline carried out a trial of a wireless inflight entertainment system, in which passengers can download media, such as movies, onto their own laptops, without the need for additional software. With the trial's success, this wireless technology will be introduced to Silkair flights, later in the year, with an increased volume of content.
