The Fine Arts Department is looking into fixing up two abandoned religious sites, which date back to the late Ayutthaya period. The first site is Wat Suan Sawan in Bang Phlat, which is under threat of encroachment, according to The Nation. The second site is Wat Phumrin Ratchapaksi, near Phra Pinklao Bridge. Used as a car park and damaged by last year’s floods, the department would like to turn it into a youth center. The department’s budget is B5 million. Just for reference, the futsal stadium that the BMA was unable to complete in time for the FIFA World Cup cost 240 times that (see above).
