China’s first and only low-cost carrier, Spring Airlines, has been gradually expanding outside of the mainland to destinations like Macau, Hong Kong and even Japan (to Tokyo’s Ibaraki Airport, the low-cost alternative to Haneda and Narita). On Aug 10, Spring Airlines opened its Bangkok-Shanghai route, which is offering roughly B12,000 roundtrip rates in September. Meanwhile, India’s larger low-cost, IndiGo, just launched a second daily Bangkok-New Delhi flight.
