The days of super-long immigration lines are over (for locals anyway) at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, thanks to the new counters with automatic gates that allow Thai passport holders to pass through without facing an officer. Just place your passport, and then finger, on the scanners, and hand your filled-in departure document to a nearby officer—and then you’re ready for duty-free shopping. It works the same way on arrival, too.
