Probably the last local endurance race for runners this year, Sisaket’s Mini-Half Marathon through Khao Phra Viharn National Park takes place on Dec 5. The course cuts through the lush jungles of the national park that sits on the Thai-Cambodian border to Mor E Daeng Cliff, one of Isaan’s best view points with picturesque views of the national park and Preah Vihear. There’s a choice of half marathon (21.1km), mini marathon (10.5km) and VIP healthy run (5km), and registration fees are B350, B200 and B500, respectively. Just make sure not to step off the marked route, unless you want to hook up with some Khmer soldiers. Budget runners can stay overnight at local schools nearby for free (with shared bathroom).
