The southeast Russian port city of Vladivostok is now within easy reach of Singapore with Vladivostok Air commencing twice-weekly flights via Hong Kong.
Known as the terminus of the Trans-Siberian Railway, Vladivostok is undergoing rapid development in time to host the 2012 APEC summit. Some Soviet era statues and memorials make for a fascinating journey into the past, while Russian naval vessels harbored in Golden Horn Bar make for a spectacular sight. The city is also home to many museums and is a gateway to explore the vast expanse that is Russia. The flights depart from Singapore on Tuesdays and Fridays.
