While Bangkok is luring the tourists in with its low-season sales, Phuket is raking in the foot traffic with seafood and discounted package tours. The Phuket Seafood Fiesta 2011 sees most seafood restaurants on the island, offering a variety of discounts. The event runs throughout August, but the highlight is on Aug 11-12 when there’s a seafood festival on Rawai Beach. People can shop for fresh goodies to cook at home or try dishes prepared by local chefs and celebrities. The TAT is also teaming up with tour operators to offer packages starting from B4,900/couple without air tickets and B11,000/couple with air tickets. These Phuket Great Time packages feature a two-night stay with breakfast at a selection of hotels and, impressively, a rental car for three days.
