Already thinking about Valentine’s Day? What could be more romantic than a stay at one of Laos’ best hotels and a feast fit for royalty? Inspired by the late Prince Souvannaphouma’s favourite Laotian food, Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel in Luang Prabang (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) unveils “Feast of the Prince,” which features a romantic set dinner served under a marquee, located next to a pond. Decorated with fresh flowers, lanterns and light torches, the atmosphere is accentuated by two Lao traditional dance performances during the course of the dinner. Expect traditional Lao dishes ranging from deep fried spring rolls, grilled marinated fish in banana leaves and spicy pork salad among others and finish off with Kaotom, a glutinous rice cake made from sticky rice, banana and coconut milk. It’s enough to make you feel royally spoiled. Dinner starts at US$100++ ($130) per couple. Rates at the Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel start from US$180++ ($235). Log on to www.angsana.com to book.
