On a spice spectrum from Oh Canada to Phed Phed.
Wings are kind of having a moment in Bangkok of late—with a lot of shops opening trying to perfect everyone’s favorite side. Some like them soggy, some like them crispy, and some like them to melt your face.

Sauced, which opened in Bangkok in January, comes to the city from Canadian Dave Zalewski who might be found tossing the wings by hand in the kitchen.

You’ll find a pretty healthy wing menu here, with 30 options varying in flavor and spice. You’ll want to pay close attention to the colors—yellow, orange, and red—because the hotter wings are no joke. Wings go for B180 for six or B340 for 12; every Monday, though, features a special for B99 for six through June.

On the lighter side of things, they feature some classic wing options like buffalo, honey mustard, and BBQ, but they’ve also got a few Thai flavors including khao soi. These wings are easy eating; BK tried the Oh Canada wings that are flavored with maple syrup, a very easy flavor.

Getting a little bit spicer with their orange offerings, there are Isaan zaap wings, tom yum, and sriracha, but BK went for the classic buffalo medium heat, which were crispy and on the warm side but won’t knock you out of your chair with heat.

Unless you’re a seasoned spice enthusiast with lips and a bowel of iron, maybe stick to the orange because the Phed Phed wings are don’t-touch-your-nose hot with Thai bird chillies. Other red options include the Bangkok Heat, kimchi, and nam jim jaew.

On the more specifically Canadian side of things, they’re offering poutine—another dish that’s finding an unconventional home in Bangkok—both in classic form and with pad kra pow beef, and nachos rather than fries. Some folks are very serious about their poutine, but Sauced is having fun with the concept.

Along with a selection of burgers and salads, diners will find a fully stocked beer fridge, Oreo and Kit-Kat shakes, and this place has the distinction of one of the few spots in town to offer a caesar—another being the newly opened Canton Disco. Here it comes complete with hot sauce and a clamato rim.

The space itself is one floor just off Onnut station on Sukhumvit Soi 81, featuring smooth interiors and an outside area for dining and drinking.

28, Sukhumvit Soi 81, 080 007 9258. Open Mon, Wed-Sun 11am-10pm.
