Vinyl records on the walls, warm cozy tones, and house disco.

SOHO Hospitality, the team behind Havana Social (winner of BK Magazine’s Best Theme Bar in 2024) and Above Eleven are back, this time channeling 1970s New York City through a funky penthouse-style club, APT 101, on the third level of a low-rise building just a few minutes from Asok BTS station.

Slink down Sukhumvit 17 to find the somewhat hidden entrance elevator that drops guests directly in the club foyer where they must ring on a doorbell to get inside. The sprawling space nails the 70s “Brown Era” vibe to a T, drenching the floors and walls in warm brown woods, swooping multi-colored carpets, sturdy mid-century furniture, shelves full of era-appropriate vinyl records, and Warhol-inspired artwork. Much of the space feels like a real, lived-in penthouse, and that’s by design. Throughout the menus, descriptions, and event invitations, the brand leverages the persona of an enigmatic penthouse owner named “R.H.”, who is never revealed but speaks directly to guests as if they are visitors in his house.

The venue also matches the form seen in many of the world’s best listening bars, breaking the space up into several cornered off sections—an arcade, pantry, and clubhouse—each meant to cater to various moods: private tables to recline with cocktails, open dance floors to cut up a rug, and backroom pool tables and bar counters to drink with a bit more privacy.

The cocktail list takes inspiration from the glittering disco balls and Pantone colors that defined much of the 70s. There’s also exclusive deals on a curated bottle selection, with premium options like Grey Goose (starting at B14,990/bottle) and Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask (B34,790/bottle) to everyday favorites like Hendrick’s (B5,790/bottle) and Chivas Regal 12 Years (B4,790/bottle), there’s something for everyone’s taste. The venue also ups the bottle service game with staff donned in flashy costumes—bellboys, flight attendants, firefighters—and spirited performances, all with a nod to the artistic and musical vibrance of the 70s.

The venue is also pushing hard into the city’s music scene, and has already commanded a pretty solid line-up of talent, including names like DJ Tob, Wildealer, Bangkok Invaders, Afrodise (Aaron Sevilla, Juany Bravo), to its regular rotation of weekly disco, house, and hip-hop nights.

APT 101, 3/F, 233 Sukhumvit Rd. (Sukhumvit 17), 02-821-5813. Open Thu-Sat 6pm-2am.
