Earlier this week, World’s 50 Best announced their list of the world’s top hotels, and Capella on the Chao Phraya River right here in Bangkok topped their rankings.
Opening in 2021 just after Covid, Capella, with 101 keys, was quick to garner attention for its stylish suites and up-scale service. They’ve got a lot of dining options, but the one that really catches BK’s eye is Cote by Mauro Colagreco is an absolute must-try, ranking at No.2 at 2023’s top tables. The Capella is up from its 11th ranking of last year.
Cote was followed by Passalacqua at Italy’s Lake Como at No.2 and the Rosewood Hong Kong at No.3
The next Bangkok hotel on the list comes at No.12, the Mandarin Oriental. This pick is no surprise, as it’s been one of the finest hotels in Southeast Asia for about a century and a half. They’re top-notch design is from another era (literally) and they’ve played host to writers, celebrities and politicians the world over. This year, however, saw the historic hotel fall out of the top ten from its previous ranking at No.10.
Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, which was No.3 last year has fallen to 14, still has one of the best hotel bars in the city with BKK Social Club. Finally, The Siam, which might be a little far outside of the city for downtown dwellers, ranked in at No.26.
