Heads up, regulars of the Bangkok culinary scene (and, well, anyone who enjoys good food): TAAN, the twice-Michelin Guide featured modern Thai fine dining restaurant in the heart of the city, is rolling out a seasonal menu called COOKSHOP later this month.

Drawing on the various Chinese and Western culinary influences that can now be found throughout professional kitchens across Thailand, COOKSHOP blends ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques that are central to these different cuisines as well as in more traditional Thai kitchens.

The result? Well, we don’t want to spoil too much of the surprise, but diners can expect dishes that combine the familiar with unexpected twists, such as a chicken Chinese yellow curry and fried mushroom bun with smoked duck tongue jam, sake mooncake, and (the one that’s most intriguing to us), the "Pretend Shark Fin Soup," in which the “shark” is actually braised pork ears.

“At TAAN, we believe that food is more than just sustenance; it is an experience. COOKSHOP takes this belief to heart,” explained TAAN Executive Chef Monthep “Thep” Kamolsilp. “We are proud of the cultural exchange that has taken place in Thai cuisine and we believe that it is what makes it truly special. This menu is our tribute to this exchange, a celebration of the blending of cultures and a testament to the vibrant culinary scene in Thailand today.”

Moreover, Chef Thep has always prided their team for sourcing ingredients from independent local farmers in order to ensure the best quality produce while contributing to the local community — and diners can rest assured that this has also been the case when putting together COOKSHOP.
