Rally round the boiled rice.

Feeling nostalgic for old-school khao tom kui but you’re also kind of bougie? The Supanniga group has something cool for you. Its new brand Ruay Mitr upgrades the old-school culinary tradition of boiled rice served with savory side dishes, featuring premium ingredients and dishes you won’t find at street stalls.

As you might expect, Ruay Mitr—ruay meaning “prosper” and mitr meaning “friends,” underscoring the goal of bringing people together—uses traditional cooking techniques. In particular, they emphasize Thai-Chinese methods with a few creative twists.

They have four types of soup to choose from, including duck leg soup with pickled lime (B120) and spicy minced pork soup (B120), plus free-flow boiled rice (B25), but the side dishes star here.

The giant list of sides includes shrimp sashimi in spicy fish sauce (B120), smoky wok-fried clams with chili paste (B200), and golden century egg and minced pork with holy basil (B150). Other standouts are the refreshing salted egg salad (B120, fried Chinese sausage (B90), and pickled sweet turnip omelet (B120).

Ruay Mitr is serving at the restaurant’s Thonglor branch. Expect to find a Ruay Mitr pop-up floor here by the end of the year.

You can also order for delivery through Lineman, Grab, and Robinhood.
