Bored of eating at the same places? Here are some restaurants picks across six different areas of Bangkok
We've all been eating at the same places for months. If you need help switching it up, this is your guide.
Vapor Seafood Bar & Restaurant
This must-visit, sprawling riverside seafood restaurant is usually packed to the gills (we are so sorry for that pun) with hungry diners who come for fresh grilled river prawns, massive steamed squid with chili and lemon sauce and Thai-style crab fermented in fish sauce—the latter being one of the most popular, by the way. It's one of the best restaurants in the area and will definitely be a regular selection of yours if you live or visit the area. They really put effort into their takeaway offerings too. Packing comes with how-to instructions and all the food we’ve seen appears well protected from the motion of the delivery bikes.

Siriwan Hoi Tod Pad Thai
One of the latest restaurants to join the Robinhood delivery trend (the app doesn’t charge restaurant’s commission if you are wondering why). The venue serves mostly versions of homey Thai and Chinese favorites, like fried dim sum turnip cakes, spicy fish maw soup, pad Thai and coconut cakes.

Where to live: The City Ratchada–WongSawang
These are right in the heart of the action on Nakhon-in road, and the exclusive project only has 94 of them. There are five types of options to choose from whether you are a single family or need a multi-generational set up. There are two large central areas that clearly divide the private zones (like you home’s garden) from the activity areas.
Happening Library
The exposed brick walls, super high ceilings and long wood tables here make it a no-brainer for out-of-office work, meetings, and just generally a good spot to get a quality coffee. The space is actually from the folks behind Happening Magazine, so there is a lot more than coffee here. If you head to the brand’s main website, you can pick up all kinds of trinkets, like books vouchers and even vinyl records.

Khelang House
This northern Thai specialist is known for its great service and atmosphere thanks to a live band that plays pretty regularly. Sadly, we can't confirm the state of those things with easing lockdown measures just around the corner, but the food is still on point—they make a mean koi soi.

Where to live: The City Sukhumvit-On Nut
The City Sukhumvit-On Nut from AP is a new series of single-family homes. And it's also the first project of The City brand to use this model. Its luxurious urban location is close to some of Bangkok’s coolest neighbourhoods, and frankly it is next to impossible to find homes in On Nut these days. The homes come with modern facades and swanky internal functions. They are big, too. We’re talking five bedrooms, six bathrooms, four parking spaces, making them great for large families (starting at B15 million).
Vietnam My Heart
One of the more affordable Vietnamese restaurants in the area and also known for dishing out very big portions. You’ll find all of the classic Vietnamese dishes you love, like grilled pork with vermicelli noodles, pho (with many different kinds of meat), fresh shrimp rolls and spring rolls, and Vietnamese-style pork sausage. There is also a small selection of Isaan (northeastern Thai) dishes to whet your somtam whistle.

Sriwat Chuan Chim
A simple restaurant with only a handful of dishes, most of them piled high with crispy and red pork. The venue has been open for the past 20 years, and leans on a recipe developed by the owner’s mother—which hasn’t changed over the course of that time. The red pork here is marinated for 1-2 hours to help concentrate the flavours the reduce the amount of grease that can come with it. You’ll also find a bunch of typical noodle dishes here, like tom yum soup with noodles and spicy yentafo.

Where to live: Centro Phahol-Vibhavadi 1 and Centro Phahol-Vibhavadi 2
These single-family homes are perfect for new generations that also need to take care of elderly family members. They come with four bedrooms, five bathrooms and three parking spaces. The location is very close to the expressway. There is a lot of demand for houses in Phaholyothin, so these are a rare opportunity to snatch a luxurious home in an in-demand hood.
Shichi Japanese Restaurant
This premium Japanese restaurant has over 200 dishes on its menu, and delves into the worlds of sukiyaki, sushi rolls, nigiri and those elite-level steaks Japan has become so famous for. All of the ingredients on the menu are imported directly by the restaurant itself without a middleman, and one could argue that adds an extra layer of quality to the offering. They regularly offer discounts on takeaway items (up to 20-percent) and free delivery if you are within 5-20km and purchase between B500-2,000.

Treebox
One of the first restaurants in Ratchaphruek Road to adopt the shipping container approach to outdoor dining, Treebox is a combo craft beer and grill that does a pretty bang-up job of Italian and Thai classics. Aside from the massive range of craft beers, there is a huge range of burgers, salads, pastas, and steaks to choose from. Swing by there for some quality live music as well—seating options both inside and out in the open air. The restaurant's menu and vibe also make it a great place for regular family dinners if you live in the neighborhood or find yourself there often.

The living rooms are also big and highly customizable according to the needs of each family member. Other highlights include a clubhouse, swimming pool, gym, lounge, private park and 24-hour security. The project is right in the heart of Ratchaphruek and close to the expressway when you need to get into town.
Jungle Curry Ramkhamhaeng 24
This southern Thai restaurant leans on fiery recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. The venue orders seafood directly from the nearby markets each day to ensure the freshest produce, something fans rave about online. They do an excellent job of packaging their curries, stir-fries and set meals into convent boxes for delivery or pick-up, and even serve lunch boxes with a mixture of their favorites. They also offer regular discounts across the whole menu, so keep an eye out for that.

Na Nuea Jai Suea
It’s all about steak and marinated meats with sides here. The restaurant puts together a really mean rice and beef bowl, packaged in a convenient takeaway bowl you could eat anywhere—they even say, “tired of eating at home? Eat in the car” on social media. They have huge discounts for large orders and free delivery if you are close to the venue.

Where to live: The City Ekkamai-Ladprao
These luxurious two-story detached housing projects are one-of-a-kind in the area—and there are only 67 units up for grabs. They are only a few minutes away from a nearby expressway into town. With a useable area of 262-375 square meters, four-to-five bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, two-to-three parking spaces and a maid's room, they are perfect for medium-to-large families. With those kinds of features and a price tag starting from B19-40 million, these are some of the best luxury homes in the area.
Charm Garden
Big, spacious, and homey, Charm Garden is an airy, no-frills spot to grab all kinds of snacks, drinks, and all with as much a focus on sustainability as possible. The venue itself is beautiful, with tons of trees and greenery to make you forget you are even in the city—great for family adventures on the weekend. Want an example? When they heard workers were trapped in a nearby camp with no food to eat, they whipped up hundreds of takeaway krapow dishes to bring to them for free. The massive space is also a great events area, when you can actually do that again.
