Bangkok’s newest ice skating rink is also part of an art museum
And it’s very, very pink.
Looking for a new, unique twist in art appreciation? Last weekend, the Museum of Contemporary Art, or MOCA, unveiled a new art installation complete with an ice skating rink. That means you can hit the ice surrounded by MOCA’s new lighting installation “Kisses,” in which an LED neon sign of a couple kissing hangs above a 27m rink of ice in a pink-hued room.
Thanks to Elle Magazine fashion editor Pannatorn “Aey” Boonmahitisud and MOCA director Kit Bencharongkul, the installation is meant to attract couples in the run-up to Valentine’s Day during this month of love.
Admission to the installation is free, but skating fee costs B150/person for 30 minutes. Due to the pandemic, only 10 people are allowed per round, and everyone is required to wear face masks at all times.
One of Asia’s largest contemporary art museums, MOCA is the permanent home of works by well-known Thai artists such as Thawan Duchanee, Chelermchai Kositpipat and Prateep Kochabua.
