This Silom street food legend is now selling his pork skewers across the city
The man, the myth, the legend is upping his delivery game
In the world of Silom street food, Fat Bro (AKA "Mr. Fat"—see BK’s video on him here) is legendary for one thing only: moo ping (delicious marinated pork skewers). For over 30 years, Fat Bro’s stall would garner lines around the corner of Silom and convent late into the night. Opening at 11pm, he would sell over 2,000 skewers within just three hours. His secret? Tender cuts of pork thigh left to bathe overnight in his secret marinade, before being charcoal-grilled on intense flames, leaving a crispy exterior and supple, juicy meat. On top of all that magic, he adds his signature, tamarind-laced spicy naam jim jaew dipping sauce.
Today, Mr. Fat’s moo ping has been rebranded and expanded to Thonglor under the name FATBRO®. The quality has been upgraded—the pork, sourced only from Betagro®, is all organic with no growth hormones, antibiotic residue, or pesticides—but he still delivers the same authentic flavors. Situated at The Fox Thonglor, FATBRO® serves those fiery, succulent pork skewers all day from 7am-11pm daily (9am-8pm during the current Covid-19 curfew).
Delivery is also available through platforms such as Lineman, Foodpanda, Get, and Grabfood.
Enjoy some of those mouth-watering pork skewers (B15 each) with sticky rice (B5), or try some of the new set menus, like five skewers with sticky rice and a soft drink (B85) and grilled pork on top of Japanese rice served with the signature dipping sauce and a soft drink (B75 for small/B99 for medium/B149 for large). You can even order huge bulk bags for parties or uncooked skewers to barbecue yourself at home.
