Bangkok booze ban to continue until the end of April
Hang in there, folks.
Just when we thought we had made it to the end of the 10-day Bangkok booze ban, the City Hall announced its decision to extend the ban until Apr 30, in keeping with a whole host of other provinces nationwide.
As reported by Khaosod, the decision was made by Governor Aswin Khwanmuang in a Monday meeting. BMA officials claim that the decision is essential to discourage social gatherings in order to limit the spread of Covid-19, despite the decreased number of new cases.
Sales of alcohol have been prohibited in Bangkok since Apr 10 to discourage social gatherings during Songkran. The ban in Bangkok was originally set to end at midnight on Apr 20, as it did in Chiang Mai. The sale of alcohol in Phuket, meanwhile, is still banned indefinitely.
