This pop-up at Emquartier shows the very best of Taiwan's tech and design scene
There are plenty of international award winners on this list
Taiwan is a cradle of innovation in Asia, but unfortunately it's too-often overshadowed by several of its neighbors in the Pacific East Asian corridor. The country's Minister of Culture has taken matters into his own hands by launching Fresh Taiwan—an international project which introduces local consumers and tourists to 12 rising Taiwanese startups including 49101 Electronics, bi.du.haev, Clarechen, Dilio, Eyecandle, Fyber Forma, Hands, Singular Concept, Vinaera, Conquer Casa, Dotdesign, and Tzulai.
Room Concept Store at Emquartier is Bangkok’s first home for the pop-up shop; displaying a wealth of clever products Oct 5-15—including earphones and audio tech, kitchenware, lifestyle products and home decor (3/F; in the Glass Quartier zone).
One simple and useful utilitarian highlight: Charger—a bluetooth earphone that can charge devices, with a versatile cable that supports microUSB and USB type C.
Vineara is the world’s first adjustable electric wine aerator. It is specially-designed to invigorate aromas and tastes, and won Germany’s Red Dot Award in 2014, and was also recognized by Japan’s Good Design Awards, and America’s International Design Awards.
Oblik is a pour-over cylindrical coffee drip stand which comes with a fashionable (and solid) marble base and a stop valve to regulate flow. It won a 2017 Good Design award for its ergonomic look and beautiful copper fittings.
Eye Candle Studio has tackled unique and fun pop design with incense and candle holders inspired by the “Star Wars” series movies. As well as candles crafted after popular movie characters and cute animals.
Fresh Taiwan will also be at Style Bangkok Fair; at Design Hall EH104 of BITEC Bangna, Oct 17-21 (Booth RR 2,4,6,8,10 and SS 1,3,5,7,9,11).
