These legends regularly light up the UK's Notting Hill Carnival and festivals like Glastonbury.

On Oct 12, the legendary Channel One Sound System will join Thailand's Karma Rhyme SoundSystem for a major party.

Now one of the UK's best known and most loved reggae sound systems, Channel One began in 1979 when Mikey Dread and his brother Jah T began lighting up local blues parties with sounds from Jamaica's Channel One Studio. In 1983, Channel One started playing at Notting Hill Carnival (London's huge yearly celebration of the British West Indian community) and their reputation grew from there.

Led by selector Mikey Dread and MC Ras Kayleb, Channel One are known for their unique selection of conscious reggae, exclusive dubplates and uplifting steppas, played on their bespoke, hand built sound system. In Bangkok, they'll be joined by Srirajah Sound System, by the head of Thailand's beloved Srirajah Rockers, and the UK's Miyalap Sound System, among others.

Taking place at Suvarnabhumi's Gypsy Flamingo Lake Market (renamed earlier this year from Runway 3119 Market), the event encourages revellers to bring tents and will run from 4pm-2am. Entry is B500, either on the door or in advance via transfer—see Facebook event page for details. Book before Sep 30 to get a free event poster.
