Replacing the controversial annual elephant polo of former years, Anantara’s Elephant Boat Race & River Festival promises a weekend of fun.

International teams, including Thailand’s Navy Seals, will race down the Chao Phraya River in elephant-themed dragon boats, while an educational art installation from Golden Triangle Elephant Foundation will take place on dry land.

Organized by Independent Wine & Spirit (Thailand), the family-friendly event will also feature plenty of food, drinks, a fun fair and a vintage car exhibition, as well as live music and cultural performances.
