Bangkok welcomes world's best ceramic artists for month-long exhibition
The National Gallery hosts some of the world’s greatest ceramic artists this month.
These are not just your typical cups, bowls or vases. They’re highly sought out pieces of artwork crafted from the hands of world-renowned artists and they’re available for purchase—should you be so lucky to try your tea in a cup like that for a change.
From Mar 10-30, ceramic enthusiasts can gather at the National Gallery of Thailand for the POTs-the Vessel: World-class Contemporary Ceramic Exhibition hosted by Potters of Thailand. View useable art that’s available for purchase from 12 pottery artists hailing from all over the world: the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Sweden and of course, Thailand. And the artists are no amateurs. Many have received awards, had their pottery displayed in national and international museums and have led several workshops.
Mami Kato

Thailand’s very own Pim Sudhikam, assistant professor of the Department of Industrial Design at Chulalongkorn University, most recently received honorable mention at the 2017 Ceramic Competition Gualdo Tadino in Italy. She has also had her work featured in several collections and exhibitions all over the world like the “Tree of Life: the 4th Southeast Asia Ceramic Festival” in The Philippines in 2017.
Williamson, another well-known ceramist, was born in Sweden and he too has had his work in numerous exhibitions around the world. Aside from teaching in a Swedish craft and design college, Williamson has held international workshops and has received a gold medal from the Swedish king for excellent craft.
Entrance is free. Check out more award-winning and internationally recognized artists and is open Wed-Sun from 9am-4pm.
