Top prize seems inevitable

Our pride and joy of the local bar scene has done it yet again. After maintaining its position as the top bar in Asia two years running, Manhattan at the Regent Singapore has broken new ground and been named the third best bar in the world. At the unveiling of the World’s 50 Best Bars list in London on Oct 3, Manhattan was ranked at #3, climbing four spots from its #7 position when it broke into the top 10 for the first time last year. It falls just behind the Dandelyan and the American Bar at the Savoy, both of which are in London.

And the wins just keep on coming. The gorgeously designed, Art Deco-styled Atlas in Parkview Museum clinched #8, rising seven spots from its previous #15 position. Atlas is also currently #4 on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list.

After Atlas, check out these other stunning gin bars for your dose of gin.

Other Singapore bars on the prestigious World’s 50 Best list are Native at #13, Operation Dagger at #23, and 28 Hong Kong Street at #34. Tanjong Pagar’s Tippling Club, previously at #31 last year, fell completely off the list.

The results were decided upon by votes from more than 500 drink experts from across the globe. The annual list, which is organized by the same people behind the Asia’s 50 Best Bars and World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards, turns 10 this year—making the Singapore wins extra momentous. Fittingly, the 2019 World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards will be hosted here next year, as part of a three-year partnership between organizers William Reed Business Media and the Singapore Tourism Board.

It probably goes without saying that you’ll want to make a trip down soon before the throngs of thirsty tourists arrive.
