A tip for the ultimate experience: dunk your toppings in the milkshakes for a good soak before pigging out.
Marina Bay Sands is the site of the first Black Tap store in Asia, and with it comes the crazyshakes that have since blown up our Instagram feed. The must-try milkshake is the Sweet N’ Salty Peanut Butter Shake, that comes with a M&Ms frosted rim, topped with peanut butter cups and chocolate-covered pretzels snugly nestled in whipped cream. Other equally decadent delights to look forward to include the Bam Bam Shake, topped with fruity pebbles and a strawberry Poptart; and the Cakeshake that is served in limited quantities, which comes in a vanilla frosted rim, topped with unicorn rainbow sprinkles and the piece de resistance, a funfetti cake slice. Don’t be frightened by the OTT creations because Black Tap offers classic shakes too. L1-80 The Shoppes, 10 Bayfront Ave.
The next time you find yourself in town, pick up the menu at Jen’s Kitchen On-the-Go and order up their Dirty Milkshake Range. The have five major flavors that will cater to even the fussiest of tastebuds. Their bestselling Death by Brownie (pictured above) is to-die-for, but our personal favorite is the luscious Peanut Butter; and then there’s the more toned-down Matcha Milkshake that can be passed off as a healthier choice, though still topped with a cheeky macaron. We recommend Jen's for days when you’re dirty bulking. Hotel Jen Singapore, 1A Cuscaden Rd.
Nestled within Robertson Quay, Summerlong is a Mediterranean cafe with an al fresco dining area, serving up great food and chill vibes. The literal icing on top is its spectacular specialty milkshakes that spotlight tropical fruits, such as the Mango Unchained, a delightful concoction of vanilla ice-cream, mango puree and caramel sauce; the Passion of the Fruit and Raspberry Rhapsody are strong contenders too. If you’re, however not a fan of fruity or tarty, have a go at the equally sinful Peanut Butter Jelly Time. Nothing like creamy milkshakes for some summertime sweetness. #01-04 The Quayside, 60 Robertson Quay
Citrus by the Pool, a halal-certified establishment is a casual all-in-one dining bistro-restaurant, yet it doesn’t shy away from ostentatious milkshakes. Think generous servings lashed with ribbons of syrup, and then studded with nostalgic iced-gem biscuits; or with Garrett-looking popcorn as adornment. Get your value-for-money milkshakes at this neighbourhood joint. 3 Woodlands Street 13.
