Rustic Design

The purpose of rustic decor is to bring warmth and coziness to a home. The focus here should be on natural-feeling elements and warm colors that help bring the outdoors inside. The staples here include wood furniture (think rough-edged wood accents or a dark mahogany table) and dark metals (like a black metal bookcase with wooden shelf tops), both give rooms a time-worn and sturdy feel. To complete the look with lighting, we recommend fixtures with distressed or vintage touches such as the Hive ceiling lamp—a cylindrical wire lampshade that combines rugged touches with a contemporary feel.

Mid-Century Modern

Mid-century modern is a style everyone is familiar with, even if they don’t know the name. It’s rock-solid retro minimalism at its finest—’50s style with contemporary appeal. To add a dash to your place, try a tapered leg sofa, brightly colored ottomans and geometric elements like teardrop pendants or the the Meridian grey-smoked glass globe lamp. The great thing about mid-century modern is its usefulness in small flats—that's largely where the movement came from. The Bud lampshade in chrome is fantastic at bouncing light around the room, which can help to make things feel more spacious.

Industrial Statement

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of industrial interiors is usually exposed concrete and metal furniture, but the style has developed and evolved over the years. Emphasising other textures, such as exposed wood, helps to create a softer neo-industrial look. Conversely, go full retro with copper furniture (like a copper bed frame or rose gold-colored pipe shelf) and colored glass, then complete the total look with this copper-colored Chandelier ceiling light.
