Go nuts

Tourists rejoice, home of the Singapore Sling and the first venue to reopen at national monument Raffles Hotel (that’s still undergoing major restoration works) is Long Bar, now back at the second floor space of the adjoining Raffles Arcade, at the crossroads of Bras Basah Road and North Bridge Road.

The old-school bar never truly disappeared even as construction went on thanks to a pop-up Long Bar that opened downstairs at 3 Seah Street, which was also where the Raffles Gift Shop was. But nothing beats having a permanent place that now actually opens till late (the pop-up bar closed at 8pm, making post-dinner drinks improbable).

Nothing much has changed here: enjoy a pricey but OG Singapore Sling ($32), soak in the Malayan plantation vibes, and eat nuts from a gunny sack before cathartically chucking the shells onto the floor like they’ve always done. We can't wait to see how the other F&B concepts at Raffles Hotel, both old and new, will turn out to be too.

Long Bar is now open daily from 11am-11pm at 2/F Raffles Arcade.
