The sushiritto trend lives

It seems Aloha Pokè is keen on expanding its already popular menu. The locally based Hawaiian-focused restaurant has launched a new "Roboru" concept to join its lunch options. Short for Rolls and Bowl, the new addition is essentially the fusion "sushi burrito" dish—made in the shape of traditional Japanese sushi, but with the unique Hawaiian flavor the restaurant is well-known for.

The new Roboru series includes six dishes in total but among them, highlights are the Nanahu’Mon maki roll with charred salmon, the Bimbim Pipi (a beef short rib roll), the Opae Surfing (a crunchy shrimp tempura roll), plus a new grain bowl called the Kahlua Pig over Quinoa. The icing on the (rice) cake: They‘re all made of natural and fresh ingredients like carrots, green bell peppers and red onions which means that you may enjoy a healthy but wallet-friendly meal that only costs $12 to $13.

For now, the new dishes are only available exclusively through Deliveroo, but Aloha Pokè has confirmed its plans to open physical outlets, separate from its main chain, in the CBD in the near future. Meanwhile, sushi fast food institutions like Maki-San are sweating.
