It’s the last week of July! As we officially enter the second half of 2018, take solace in the fact that we’re inching closer to the holiday season. To tide you over till then, there’s a whole bunch of gigs, musicals, films and parties to fill your post-work time with.
Wind Walkers: Theo Jansen's Strandbeests at ArtScience Museum
EXHIBITION
Dutch artist Theo Jansen is sending his prized Strandbeests to our shores. In fact entirely non-living, his world-renowned creatures made of PVC and wood are powered by wind, and spend their days moving gracefully across beaches (hence their name, which translates to “beach animal” in Dutch). Head to the ArtScience Museum for an exclusive look at this new species, where you can look at “fossils” of past beests, and even walk alongside 13 original Strandbeests. Through Sep 30

The eighth edition of Singapore Art Museum’s annual family-friendly contemporary art exhibition explores the concept of time. CONCERT
PVRIS' brand of music is a great mix of guitars, drums and electronic elements, with a dash of pop sensibility; it's no wonder they’ve grown a massive following since they formed in 2012 under a different name. British artists Stephen Triffitt, Mark Adams and George Daniel Long—better known as The Definitive Rat Pack—found their claim to fame interpreting music greats Sinatra, Martin and Davis. If you're looking for a show that will rattle the feels in you, catch The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas at Workcentral Singapore; a film set during WWII which follows eight-year-old Bruno and his family as they leave Berlin to live near a concentration camp where his father is the head honcho. One day, he wanders out to explore the surroundings and makes an unlikely friend, a Jewish boy in prisoner's clothes named Shmuel behind a barbed-wire fence of where Bruno's father works. Jun 27
