Phuket Town’s purveyor of sassy, bold flavors, Suay Restaurant (www.suayrestaurant.com), is celebrating the success of its original venue with a follow up in the Cherng Talay district.

The airy restaurant goes for a naturalistic look, with hanging orchids, a wood slab center table and a large outdoor garden space.

Food-wise, expect the same table-side hotplate theatrics and internationally-inflected Thai cuisine, like the "Foie Gras Thai Style" (B450) served with sweet-and-tangy tamarind dip on betel leaves with edamame salsa and cashew nuts.

The braised beef cheek in the massaman curry with coconut gnocchi (B650) is a study in Thai-Italian fusion. If arriving with a large party, go in for the barbecue terrace and a private, alfresco experience.
