Bursting with color and retro trinkets, Baan Nai Nakhon (095-438-9323, www.fb.com/baannainakhon) bills itself as the first boutique hotel in Songkhla’s scenic old town.

 

The owner transformed a three-story, near-century-old private residence into six photogenically fitted-out bedrooms. There’s a leafy private courtyard where you can enjoy your morning coffee with home-made roti before heading out to nearby Samila Beach and later exploring Songkhla Old Town Walking Street (open Thu-Sat, from 5pm).

 

The owner, who lives on-site, will happily give you more local pointers. Rates range from B1,300-B1,500 per night, including breakfast.
