There's more to Bangkok than mall shopping.

Ari

Kamakura Shirt

After the opening of Vick’s on Ari Soi 2, the area just welcomed another new boutique. The Japanese-born Kamakura Shirt has a reputation that stretches to New York’s Madison Avenue. Specializing in a relaxed, Ivy League kind of style, these guys make their shirts out of 100-percent cotton and linen while keeping their prices realistic. We’re talking B2,950-B3,250 for anything. The store decor has an equally dandy touch with its parquet floor and vintage-looking furniture.
The Decorum, Ari Samphan Soi 5, 086-533-5255. Open Mon-Fri 1pm-8pm, Sat-Sun 11am-8pm

Chuan Pisamai Cafe and Vintage Shop

Girly Victorian style meets with coffee shop culture in this charming boutique packed with vintage-style accessories, swimwear and wedding dresses under the Chuanpiasami Bride label. Grab their cute straw bucket bag at B2,900 or flower embroidered swimsuit at B1,800. At their cafe, order up a plate of waffles (B228), topped with fresh berries and honey, or go with the blueberry cheese pie (B88) and Oreo Nutella shake (B148). For something savory, they do hearty plates of Japanese curry (B138).
Ari Samphan Soi 3, 095-554-0638. Open Tue-Sun 11am-8pm

Silom

B Store

The tucked-away Silom shop-house where Bangkok Screening Room’s amazing indie cinema lurks has been going through some other exciting changes recently. An intriguing multi-label menswear store called B Store is the latest project to join the space, run by one of the co-founders of Sukhumvit Chinese-themed bar Dim Dim. The raw, minimal interior displays niche brands drawn from around the world, like Goetze from Berlin, Document from Seoul and Mfpen from Copenhagen. Grab a cool striped long-sleeve shirt from pieces from Goetze at B7,300, a perfect-for-Bangkok indigo silk jacket by Document (B15,900) or a simple Winona T-shirt (B2,200) from Idea. B store also devotes a corner to coffee from upcoming Roots. Cold brew sets you back B100.
2/F, 1/8-9 Sala Daeng Soi 1. 02-235-4711. Open Mon-Sun 10am-7pm

Thonglor

Uncon

The whitewashed space formerly belonging to sneaker shop-slash-restaurant Knock Thonglor has been taken over by another group of street-fashion addicts. New multi-brand retailer Uncon packs in over 30 fashion names, among them cult local brands like Sneaka Villa, Missile and 9Face as well as Italian leather bag purveyors Solar Milano from Italy. As before, the highlight has to be the sneakers, which sit in a devoted corner: expect special series from Adidas like the Y-3 Lazelle (B7,000) and the highly-sought-after NMD in monochrome white (B9,000), all the way up to the Yeezy Boost 750 (B49,000). Rare Nike kicks include the Dunk Low Premium SB “Kuwahara ET” (B8,500). Super newly opened, the space is still figuring out its hours.
